Horrible!

Celebrating Rob's first marathon has turned into thanking God that he's alive and worrying for others... http://live.boston.com/Event/Live_blog_Explosion_in_Copley_Square

Wounded Warrior

My husband will be walking in the Boston Marathon in a few weeks with some of his army buddies to benefit Wounded Warrior.  I say walking, but they will be in their ACU's and carrying a ruck sack weighing between 40-60 lbs.
This got me thinking what do people think of when they hear wounded warrior?  I think of this

and this   but not this

I know there is help out there for our soldiers, I just wish there was more for the families, wives, girlfriends mothers fathers and anyone else who loves a soldier.  Who can we talk to?

I remember hearing some wives and mothers talking about how their soldier came home and couldn't drive by an overpass without tensing up. I didn't think it would happen he seemed fine. Then we went to Disney. We were on the Safari ride and as they are chasing poachers away you hear what sounds like gun fire and that was it I saw the look tense, sweating and I couldn't figure it out. That was all it took.
I wonder what is going on I don't know the extent of what he's seen and I don't want to know. I just wish I knew what to say or do or even what to look for.
They come back and don't look wounded but you don't know what goes on behind those eyes.

Anyone else had to deal with this? Any advise?

Have you been on vacation?

Before the ball I start experimenting with self tanners.  Make sure you don't do this the day of, the day before or even the week before.  I have had NIGHTMARISH experiences and then I found it!  I walked into Ulta the other day noticed the bareMinerals sunless tanner.
bareMinerals Faux Tan Sunless Tanners

I asked for a sample because I have the most sensitive skin and everything makes me breakout.  I am in love. This stuff makes you look tan not orange like the cast of Jersey Shore.  It doesn't bother my skin and it doesn't smell.  I will be heading in to buy this ASAP.
BTW I have tried everything from the cheapstuff to St Tropez which is great for legs and arms but stung my face.  I may have to stockpile this stuff you know just in case...

Make sure you lightly exfoliate before using, moisturize your face don't skip that part. Then apply with a stiff brush like: SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Stippling Brush #44

Hurry up and grab yours it's already sold out on their site this stuff is amazing, and the price isn't too bad $24.00 but it should last anywhere between 4-6 months.Faux Tan Face Gradual Glow Sunless Tanner

It's all about the BALL

I consider the Military Ball one of the best things about my husband being in the military.  It's a girly, girls dream.  Being escorted by a man in uniform, getting all prettied up and getting your hair did.  I LOVE it.
Ball 2012

Getting ready for the ball starts months before.  As soon as I find out the date I get my booty to the gym and start hoping it will shrink.  Next is dress shopping.  This is the part where I wish I was Hollywood royalty and would have someone deliver dresses to me.   This year I found my dress at JCPenney for get this $26.00-with a $10.00 off coupon. Because it's not a long dress no hemming YAY.  Can't wait to wear it!

Tomorrow after I hit the gym, I will tell you what I do next.

Don't you love being a girl?

A Year

I can't believe it's been a year since the deployment ended.  It went by to quickly, of course much quicker than the deployment.
It was a year ago that I was telling everyone that today is the day my husband comes home, after being in Afghanistan.

On our way!
I could not contain all of my excitement ( you could even say I was giddy, just a bit) I was up early cleaning throwing a pot roast in the crock pot and shaving every inch of my body. Which is one thing I did not miss doing. I wanted everything to be perfect!  I am a bit of a control freak, so I have been told.

We headed down to the the Warwick Armory which is an old building with nothing but four walls and cement floors.  I was excited and nervous.  I was going to be leaving today with my husband and it wasn't for a visit this was it!  The deployment was over.  Our family would be back together.  The guys would be landing across the street at the airport and walking over.

Waiting...

Our family would be back together, soon!  As soon as the guys landed you could hear a roar; they were greeted by the Freedom Riders, News reporters, and a cheering crowd.  The excitement was contagious.

That journey was over but a new one is beginning.  It's hard to have your family torn apart for a year.  I didn't mind the sacrifice and it was lonely at times. No one understands that the soldiers come back but they don't come back to what they left.  The kids are older, roles have changed.  They come back to a community that has forgotten about the war.  They have also changed some matured some are processing all they have seen.
It is great having them home but it doesn't all fall into place immediately.

I may have to change the title of this blog, what do you think?
